Tribute to Georges Moustaki | 23 May 2025, 20:00

This Friday, May 23, at 20:00 Athens time, the program “Irregular Notes” with Stelios Ioannidis will dedicate its first hour to Georges Moustaki -the French singer-songwriter of Greek descent.

Moustaki was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to a Greek family with ties to Asia Minor, Ioannina, Zakynthos, and Corfu. He often spoke about his connection to Greek culture and to the multicultural city where he grew up:

“I was born in Alexandria, and so I have a special sensitivity to everything Greek — to what the Ptolemies brought and sowed in my birthplace. I am Greek through my father, my mother, and my grandfather.”

He became known for writing thoughtful, melodic songs – sometimes political, sometimes personal – quietly leaving his mark over the decades.

Produced and presented by Stelios Ioannidis

Broadcast: Friday, May 23, 2025, 20:00–21:00 (Athens time)

Tribute to Giorgos Zampetas | 10 Mar. 2025, 20:00
"As a composer, Zampetas belongs among the top ten great figures of rebetiko and laiko music. As a bouzouki player, he was the best in terms of his unique personal sound, but as a showman, he was truly one of a kind. If he had been born in America, he would probably have been a global star!" – Lefteris P...
