On Monday, May 5, at 20:00 (Athens time), the Voice of Greece radio program “Irregular Notes” with Stelios Ioannidis presents a special tribute to Nikos Gounaris, the beloved singer with the “velvety voice,” who passed away on this day in 1965.

The broadcast will revisit the life and legacy of the iconic composer, lyricist, and entertainer who defined the 1950s Greek music scene—both as a solo artist and alongside the Trio Bel Canto. A true master of the elafró tragoudi (light song), Gounaris left an indelible mark on an entire era with his timeless performances.
