Voice of Greece—ERT’s international radio service dedicated to Greek speakers around the world and to the promotion of the Greek language and culture—continues its beloved poetry segments “Poet of the Week.” Each week spotlights a contemporary Greek poet, including voices from the Greek diaspora. The poets themselves curate and perform their own work for radio, with each piece set to music by acclaimed composers.
The week from 26/05/2025 to 01/06/2025 is dedicated to the poet Haris Melitas.
Haris Melitas was born in Athens with origins from Kythera. He is an Architect Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens and a former professor at ASPETE. So far, he has published 18 poetry collections, one short story collection, and a concise History of Art and Technology. He was awarded by the Academy of Athens in 2020 for his collection “Exceptions”. He is a member of the Society of Writers, the Circle of Poets, and the Literary Society Parnassos.
