The third season of the acclaimed oral history series Istorima returns to Voice of Greece and ERTecho starting Monday, 16 June 2025.
Created by journalist Sofia Papaioannou and historian Katherine Fleming, Istorima collects the personal stories that rarely make it into the history books — voices that might otherwise be lost with time.
Now available exclusively on the Voice of Greece website and on ERTecho, this season continues to bring listeners closer to real-life experiences, told by the people who lived them.
Every month, two compelling podcast episodes are released, featuring stories not only rooted in historical memory but also drawn from everyday life — from family legacies and work experiences to unconventional life choices and vivid childhood recollections.
Listeners can also revisit episodes from the first season, now accessible on the official Istorima podcast page.
Coming this June:
Monday, 16 June – “As If It Were Yesterday”: Summer Nights at the Pantheon Cinema
During the German Occupation, the open-air cinema “Pantheon” hid weapons behind the screen — left there while soldiers sat transfixed by the film. In the postwar decades, amid the golden age of Greek cinema, people would celebrate Easter in their seats while owner Haris Theofilopoulos raced between cinemas by bicycle to fetch reels for simultaneous screenings.
The story of the Pantheon in Amaliada unfolds like a reel from a bygone era.
Monday, 30 June – “Takis’ Cabin”
From a young age, Takis dreamed of a life in nature — among trees, birds, wildflowers, and bears. In his home village of Sklithro, he built a small cabin by the forest’s edge, next to the country’s largest bear habitat, where he now lives in quiet harmony with the wilderness.
