Jenny Foundea–Sklavounou is the “Poet of the Week” | 22 – 28 Sept. 2025

Seven poems each week, one Greek poem each day, travel through the frequencies of Voice of Greece, reaching the far corners of the world wherever Greek voices are heard.

The week of 22–28 September 2025 is dedicated to poet Jenny Foundea–Sklavounou.

Jenny Foundea–Sklavounou was born in Athens. She studied Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and later served as a judge in the Administrative Courts. From a young age she was involved in literature and the arts, writing poetry as well as critical essays on contemporary painting and cinema.

She has edited Fritz Riemann’s book The Tetralogy of Fear and Georgios Fragakis’ novel F. She has published seven poetry collections: K, The Silence of the World, Powdered Milk, The Alpha of Centaurus, In the Depths, Sleep, Painting as Poetry, and Eudaemon Arabia. She has been recognized in various events, including competitions of the Piraeus Association and the literary magazine Mandragoras, as well as the competition of the Kozani Archive of History and Art.

In June 2022 her poetry collection was awarded at the 27th Panhellenic Poetry Competition “Kouros Europou” by Techni Kilkis. Her work has been presented at, among others, the Patras Poetry Symposium. She is a member of the Hellenic Authors’ Society (EEL) and the Circle of Poets.
