Voice of Greece bids farewell to Dionysis Savvopoulos 

Voice of Greece, ERT’s  international radio service dedicated to Greeks around the world, pays heartfelt tribute to the songwriter, composer, and musician Dionysis Savvopoulos, who passed away on Tuesday, 21 October 2025. 

Throughout Wednesday, 22 October, the station joins Greeks everywhere in saying goodbye to “Nionios” of Greek song — through landmark concerts and broadcasts drawn from its archives, as well as special programs reflecting on his life, his music, and the impact of his voice on generations of listeners. 

06:00 – 08:00 | “Further Listening”: A rebroadcast of the concert by Dionysis Savvopoulos and Thanasis Papakonstantinou at Polis Theatre, from May 2008.

14:00 – 15:00 | “Greek Music Express” with Hercules Economou 
A musical journey through live recordings from the albums “Anadromi,” “O Pyrinas,” “20 Chronia Dromos,” and “Savvorama.” The inventiveness of Savvopoulos meets the atmosphere of his concerts –  and the audience that cherished his timeless creations. 

17:00 – 22:00 | Tribute Programs 
Giannis Papoutsakis, Alexis Kostas and Stelios Ioannidis, in their respective shows  – “Journeys Basking in Greek Light,” “Voices and Music,” and “Irregular Notes” – share thoughts and memories from artists and cultural figures on Savvopoulos’ work, accompanied by his unforgettable songs. 

22:00 – 00:00 | “Further Listening”: A rebroadcast from 2002 at Ciné Kerameikos, featuring the legendary joint performance of Dionysis Savvopoulos and Nikos Papazoglou
