An orange alert has been issued in Attica over the region’s water reserves, and the deteriorating situation appears to strengthen the case for the newly announced “Evrytos” plan, presented as a comprehensive response to the crisis. Residents of Evrytania, however, are expressing strong opposition. They argue that the proposed environmental interventions will damage the local ecosystem and fundamentally alter a landscape that has remained largely untouched by human activity — and by the companies typically contracted to execute such complex projects.
Joining “Time in Greece” are Dr. Giannis Tsiantis, originally from Evrytania, and lawyer Konstantinos Pazios, representative of the citizens’ group opposing the plan. They set out their concerns in response to the official defence of the initiative. On the other side stands the government’s proposed “solution framework,” outlining a long-term strategy that aims to secure adequate water supply for Attica for the next three decades.
