Leonidas Gourgourinis and his pirates on “Saturday Shift” | 17 Jan. 2026, 08:00

In the turbulent 16th and 17th centuries, when the Mediterranean was ablaze with pirates and privateers, we set sail with “Fair Winds and Following Seas – Saturday Shift” on Voice of Greece, together with author Leonidas G. Gourgourinis.

Through his two books, Mavropetritis and The Boarding, from the tetralogy The Falcon of the Mediterranean (Arteon Publications), the author takes us on a journey into the world of piracy, offering his own perspective while shedding light on events and realities of that era.

At the same time, within this fog-laden and dangerous setting, Captain Petros Lantzas makes his appearance—a Corfiot nobleman who operated on the margins of history, guided by his own rules and code of honor, defying the established order of his time.

A different kind of radio voyage—one that will plunder your imagination.

Produced and presented by Antonis Karagiannakis

Broadcast: Saturday, 17 January 2026, 08:00 (Athens time) — with a repeat at 20:00.
