I’ll tell you a story—maybe two—about Vamvakaris known as “Koilias,” the brother of Markos Vamvakaris.
A great and celebrated bouzouki player, he delighted generations upon generations in Greece and in America alike with his playing. He lived there for many years, raised a family, and was beloved in the nightlife and in the recording world as few ever were. Warm-hearted and straightforward, like his brother, he was also a master craftsman of bouzoukis of every kind.
