Yannis Stephanides: The uncompromising servant of art | 16 Mar. 2026

The works of Yannis Stephanides stand as a lasting legacy for history itself. Among other things, he created the emblem of the United Panhellenic Organization of Youth (EPON) and remained steadfast and uncompromising until the very end. Through his paintings, he quite literally clothed history with images. Calm, gracious, and endlessly creative, he was filled with pioneering inspirations and succeeded in conveying, through his art, the struggle and anguish of an entire people.

These days, two consecutive exhibitions of Yannis Stephanides’ work are being presented under the title “70 Years of Contribution.”

In the studio of Voice of Greece, the painter’s daughter, author Fotini Stefanidi, and Eva Melas, visual artist and head of the Cultural Space “Giorgis Varlamos Workshop,” speak about this important exhibition and reveal lesser-known aspects of the life of this distinguished painter.
