Elpida Karamandi — the heroine of the Partisans. A woman who became a symbol of the Resistance in former Yugoslavia. Honoured in 1951 with the title of Hero of Yugoslavia, her legacy lives on today in monuments, streets, and even schools that bear witness to the heroic Greek woman from Florina. She died for freedom — and for hope.
