Two neighboring villages, built at the northwestern edge of the Ioannina region, very close to the border with Albania, were featured on the Voice of Greece program “Common Ground” on Tuesday, 07 April 2026.
Our guides were Vangelis Dakas, President of the local community of Dolo; Christoforos Kostaras, the man who restored ten of the village’s old manor houses, breathing new life and prospects into his homeland; Niovi Tomou, President of the Association of Friends of the Mosaic Workshop and Exhibition of works by Giannis and Nikos Kolefas in Pogoniani, an architect and engineer who has been living permanently in the village for the past five years; and Giannis Koutsoliontos, publisher of the Ioannina newspaper “Proinos Logos”, originally from Pogoniani, who spent ten years as an immigrant in Boston, USA, before returning to divide his time between Ioannina and his home village, recalling the place of his childhood.
