Maria Gazouli, Professor of Biology, Genetics and Nanomedicine at the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), joins the program to discuss the major advances transforming modern medicine. The conversation explores personalized medicine, the microbiome and the gut–brain axis, as well as the innovative molecular HPV self-sampling test being developed by her research team, which aims to expand women’s access to preventive screening.
She also reflects on her own scientific journey, sharing experiences from universities across Europe and the United States, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in research, and offering a message of encouragement to young Greek scientists in Greece and throughout the diaspora.
