Evangelia Andritsanou on “Our Town” | 25 July 2026

“Our Town,” hosted by Themis Rodamitis, welcomes philologist, translator, author, and psychotherapist Evangelia Andritsanou. Drawing on her multifaceted career, the conversation explores the relationship between literature, theater, and existential psychotherapy, as well as the role of translation as a bridge between different cultures and ways of thinking.

Special attention is given to her long-standing collaboration with leading existential psychotherapist Irvin D. Yalom. Andritsanou has translated several of his major works into Greek, helping introduce Greek readers to his work and ideas. She also discusses the stage adaptation of his novel “When Nietzsche Wept” and her career as a translator, spanning ancient Greek literature and contemporary poetry.

The conversation also highlights her translations of major poets, including Seamus Heaney, Adrienne Rich, and Pierre Reverdy.
