On Sunday 6 September 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00 Athens time, Voice of Greece’s “Our Town” pays tribute to Nikos Kalogeropoulos.
The beloved actor left his mark on acting, directing, poetry, and songwriting. He was especially admired for his outlook on life, his sensitivity, and his lifelong commitment to the ideals he had embraced in his youth. Speaking with humor about the characters he had played, he once said: “I’ve got a diploma in playing madmen. I’ve put in the years, I’ve got experience: Bes, Maimos, Mitsaras in ‘Chaire Taso Karataso.’”
His career spanned acclaimed Greek films and landmark television series, earning him numerous awards. He made his mark early on with award-winning performances in “Loafing and Camouflage” and “Learn How to Read and Write, Son.” As Takis Moschos once said of him: “Nikos was our star…”
Taking part in the tribute are his close friend and collaborator Thanasis Katsiros; actors Giorgos Kimoulis, Panos Vlachos, and Rigas Axelos; director Thodoros Maragos; and musician Thomas Panagopoulos.
The program features archival recordings, some airing for the first time, along with selected songs he wrote, performed by Kalogeropoulos himself and other distinguished artists.
