Panos Zachariadis, a mechanical engineer, naval architect, and technical director of Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management Ltd, joins “Fair Winds and Following Seas – Saturday Shift” with Antonis Karagiannakis on Voice of Greece.
Zachariadis serves on the board of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping and on committees of BIMCO and the Union of Greek Shipowners. He has also represented Greece at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for many years.
He discusses alternative fuels, the renewable energy needed to produce them, and the challenge of making them available in the quantities shipping requires. He also shares his views on ships’ contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.
Zachariadis recalls his early years at sea and talks about the shipping industry today, shipyards, and his lifelong connection to the sea.
