Greek Easter on Voice of Greece | 4 – 6 May 2024

“Voice of Greece” celebrates Easter with the Greeks of the Diaspora and our sailors who travel the seas.
More specifically:



Holy Saturday, May 4, 2024:


The composer and piano soloist Jula Giannaki and the actor Klearhos Papageorgiou, in the spirit of the current day, talk about love, friendship, loyalty, and hope in the show “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis (12:00 -13:00 Athens time)

Miranda Terzopoulou, folklorist, ethnologist and a close collaborator of the great Domna Samiou, takes us on a journey through traditional festive melodies and shares her insight about the tales and the symbols of the Orthodox community, from Lent to the Holy Week. (13:00 – 14:00 Athens time)

Elena Falirea will keep listeners around the world company in the show with a two-hour “live” music program in the show “Folk Paths” (14:00 – 16:00 Athens time)

Archimandrite George Siomos, from the parish of All Saints in Munich, Germany, talks to Mina Ralli, on the show “Remarkable Personalities” about the symbolism of the days and the customs observed by our foreign compatriots (16:00 -17:00 Athens time)

Petros Diplas and Dimitris Kontogiannis will talk to Greeks from various corners of the world on the show “Our Global Voice” (17:00 – 18:00 Athens time)

Anna Prokova selects tunes from around the world that fit the day’s particular mood, on the show “My Wandering Heart” (18.00 – 19.00 Athens time)

Greek sailors send wishes from the seas of the world and remember unforgettable days on board in the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas” with Antonis Karagiannakis (21:00 – 23:00 Athens time)

Heimerinoi Kolymvites keep us company with a special concert from the Hellenic Radio’s archive (03:00 – 05:00 Athens  time)

Easter wishes from Cyprus, Istanbul, Northern Epirus, Eastern Ukraine, Magna Grecia, the Middle East and other corners of the world on the show “Hellenes Everywhere” with Thanasis Houpis (09:00 – 11:00 Athens time)

Vassilis Sdoukos and Thodoris Lizos, exceptional songwriters and instrumentalists, keep us company with a musical program curated by Giannis Psychogios (13:00 – 14:00 Athens time)

Rebetika and folk songs “live” from the studio of “Voice of Greece” with Elena Falirea (14:00 – 16:00 Athens time).

From the tambourine of Makrigiannis to the lyre of Xylouris”: An Easter celebratory program by Metavasis musical ensemble of the Alimos Music School. Songs performed by 25 students with professional skill, under the guidance of conductor and teacher Konstantinos Asimakis, on the show “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis (18:00 – 20:00 Athens time )

Gerasimos Andreatos and his friends bring festive traditional melodies with them on the shiw “Fair Winds and Following Seas” with Antonis Karagiannakis (20:00 – 22:00 Athens  time).

Easter Monday, May 6, 2024:

We connect with Greek sailors who travel the seas of the world in a two-hour program with Antonis Karagiannakis on the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas” (08:00 – 10:00 Athens time).

Thanasis Houpis and Natasa Vissarionos meet Greeks of the Diaspora in various corners of the earth (10:00 – 13:00 Athens time).

The musical ensemble Metavasis of the Alimos Music School is with us again on “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis, in a live recording from ERT’s Studio B (Xarhakos, Papazoglou, Th. Papakonstantinou, Peridis, Malamas, Zoudiaris, Andreou) under the direction of Konstantinos Asimakis. (19:00 – 20:00 Athens time).
