On Sunday, January 26, at 12:00 PM Athens time, and for two hours, the program “Our Town” will welcome Eirini Derempei and Karolos Kouklakis to the studio of Voice of Greece.
These two renowned musicians, performers, and educators will join Themis Rodamitis for an in-depth conversation about their remarkable musical journey. They will discuss their beginnings with Paleina Seferia, their mentors (Aidonidis, Samiou), their connections with key figures of Cretan music culture (Foustalieris, Mountakis, Skordalos, Baxevanis), and the inspirations they draw from their homeland, Crete.
The program will highlight traditional festivals, the documentation of rare material by both past and present musicians, and the enduring efforts of artists who continue to create significant works despite the challenges of the times. The guests will also delve into their discography and explore the Mediterranean, the Aegean, and Asia Minor as sources of inspiration. They will share insights into beauty, fear, wonder, tenderness, the magic of silence, storytelling, light, and the unique atmosphere of Cretan nights.
Karolos Kouklakis and Eirini Derempei will perform live for the audience, playing and singing in the studio.
