Dr. Nikos Mazarakis on “Saturday Shift” | 15 Feb. 2025, 08:00

Dr. Nikos Mazarakis, Professor of Maritime Meteorology and Head of StormGeo’s office in Greece, is the guest of Antonis Karagiannakis on Saturday, February 15th, on the show “Saturday Shift” at 8:00 AM. He discusses meteorology, weather reports, cyclones, hurricanes, low-pressure systems, meltemi winds in our country, climate change, environmental pollution, green energy, passage planning, ocean currents, maps, calm seas, and towering waves that can reach 25-35 meters.

“The sea is a source of life and emotions. Being a sailor is not a profession, it’s a way of life. I would love to ‘cross’ the Atlantic Ocean for 10-15 days and experience what our sailors live through, seeing in practice all the things I teach and work on, like meteorology and weather phenomena in shipping. Waves are a strange variable. They are not like wind, and we must be particularly cautious,” says Dr. Nikos Mazarakis, among other things.

A radio journey that concerns all of us. For weather forecasting, wave movements in the world’s seas, low-pressure systems, weather companies, and much more.

Broadcast: Saturday, February 15th at 08:00 Athens time, with a repeat at 20:00.

Curator – Presenter: Antonis Karagiannakis
