The two-hour program “Journeys Basking in Greek Light,” airing live on Sunday, October 6, at 16:00 Athens time, is dedicated to the great artist’s work. Giannis Papoutsakis will highlight the multifaceted personality of Mimis Plessas as a composer, songwriter, pianist, and conductor, taking a look back at his musical journey from 1939 when, at the age of 15, he became the first piano soloist at the National Radio Foundation, to his collaborations with top singers such as Nana Mouskouri, Tzeni Vanou, Tolis Voskopoulos, Yovanna, Marinella, Giannis Voyatzis, Giannis Poulopoulos, and others.

There will also be an extensive tribute to his rich and prolific work in Greek music, his compositions for theater and Greek cinema, and his musical creations that range from jazz to classical music. The program will feature unforgettable hits beloved by both Greek and global audiences, along with excerpts from past interviews with Mimis Plessas.

Additionally, earlier on Sunday, October 6, at 10:00 Athens time, during the program “Greeks Around the World,” the tribute “the Creator of the Week: Mimis Plessas” will be broadcast, curated by Gianna Triantafylli. The great composer was truly a “Greek of the world,” as his work was also recognized abroad. Mimis Plessas had conducted some of the world’s most prominent orchestras, participated in international artistic committees, and received seven international awards. His songs have been cherished by the Greek diaspora around the world and continue to be loved today.
