“Cypriot Artists”: Nasia Dionysiou | 07 June 2025, 12:00

On Saturday, June 7th, at 12:00 Athens time, the radio show “Our Town” presents, as part of the series “Cypriot Artists,” the acclaimed author Nasia Dionysiou.

Recipient of the Greek State Short Story/Novella Award for her book Τι Είναι Ένας Κάμπος and the Cyprus State Short Story/Novella Award for her collection Περιττή Ομορφιά, Nasia Dionysiou will join the program to talk about her work and read live excerpts from her new book Μη Γράφετε Αρθούρος.

She will reveal the story of the mysterious Frenchman who, in the early years of British rule in Cyprus, appears in Troodos and disrupts an otherwise ordinary day in the lives of British aristocrats, officers, and villagers. The poet of rebellion, as Victor Hugo called him — and the greatest of all, according to Albert Camus. Who, after all, is Arthur? Who is Rimbaud? And how does his brief presence in Cyprus mark his passage from wild, boundary-breaking poetic creation to complete and inexplicable silence?

In a heartfelt conversation, Nasia Dionysiou will speak about her favorite writers, the arts she follows and loves, her life in Cyprus, and the values she holds dear — human rights, peace, and culture.

The program will also feature music and songs referring to her homeland, Cyprus.

Produced and presented by Themis Rodamitis
Broadcast: Saturday, June 7th, at 12:00 Athens time
