“Good Friday Epitaph Processions” | 10 Apr. 2026, 13:00

On Good Friday, the Divine Drama reaches its peak. Just hours before the Epitaph procession, we explore distinctive customs from every corner of Greece.

We will speak about the Epitaph procession in Kaminia, Hydra, with Mayor Giorgos Koukoudakis; about the meeting of the three Epitaphs in Syros with Deputy Mayor for Tourism Giannis Voutsinos; and then travel to Karpathos, where, together with Fotini Chalkia-Kazamia, Head of the Mayor’s Press Office, we will discuss the island’s rituals and the important tradition of commemorating the dead. Finally, in Kavala, we will speak with Deputy Mayor for Culture Apostolos Moumtzakis about the burning of Judas.
