“Historical Walks” presents a three-part exploration of Greek tradition | 09, 16 & 23 May 2026

Beginning on Saturday, 09 May 2026, the Voice of Greece program “Historical Walks” with Marilena Katsimi presents a special three-part tribute to tradition, exploring it not as a folkloric remnant or a museum relic, but as a living, evolving element of collective identity.

From village festivals and traditional dances to craftsmanship, humanity’s relationship with nature and the place of tradition within contemporary urban life, the three broadcasts seek to illuminate what tradition means today and why people increasingly feel the need to reconnect with their roots in a rapidly changing world.

Guiding this journey through memory, culture and lived experience is ethnologist and folklorist Panagiota Andrianopoulou, Head of the Department of Collections, Research and Documentation of Folk Art at the Museum of Modern Greek Culture. Through a thoughtful and wide-ranging conversation, the programmes examine community, belonging, the contemporary transformations of tradition, and the new ways younger generations approach and reinterpret cultural heritage.

The tribute is complemented by musical selections from the guest’s personal archive.
