On Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at 22:00 (Athens time), the Voice of Greece program “Remarkable Personalities” with Stavroula Karali welcomes Lena Divani in a broadcast of historical remembrance that approaches Ioannis Kapodistrias both as a leader and as a man.
The distinguished historian and author of The Bitter Cup: Kapodistrias, Roxandra and Greece traces the life of the first Governor of Greece — from his youth in Corfu and his studies in Italy to his diplomatic career in Russia.
She also focuses on the relationship between the first Governor of the Greek state and Roxandra Sturdza, the woman who profoundly marked his personal life — a spiritual and meaningful bond, ultimately unfulfilled.

Particular emphasis is placed on Kapodistrias’ return to Greece amid a climate of intense political rivalry. Lena Divani also reflects on the assassination of the first Governor of the newly established state in Nafplio — an event that signified not only the end of a life, but also the violent interruption of a vision.
