“Our Town” double tribute: Charlie Parker / Julio Cortazar (Part II) | 24 June 2024, 19:00

On Monday, June 24th, the show “Our Town” will present the second part of the tribute to Charlie Parker and Julio Cortázar. Acclaimed composer and bassist Petros Klampanis will speak on the show. Charlie Parker was one of the most important African-American jazz musicians, making a strong mark as a musician and saxophonist. He was instrumental in shaping the bebop along with the great Dizzy Gillespie. Parker’s “star” moved the great Latin American writer Julio Cortázar, who wrote a book about him entitled “The Hunter”, from which excerpts will be heard. In addition to feature essays on these two great artistic personalities, the show will also feature Parker’s music from his major collaborations.
