On Tuesday, 30 June, at 22:00 (Athens time), Voice of Greece’s “Sound Portraits”, hosted by Stavroula Karali, presents a special tribute to lyricist, songwriter and singer Vasso Alagianni, who passed away in June 2022.
Vasso Alagianni grew up in Porto Rafti, where her mother’s family taverna introduced her from an early age to many of Greece’s leading musicians and performers.
She became known through her evocative lyrics and memorable songs, as well as her close artistic and personal partnership with Manolis Rasoulis.
Throughout her career, Alagianni collaborated with some of Greece’s most distinguished composers and artists, including Manos Loizos, Notis Mavroudis, Nikos Papazoglou, Manolis Lidakis and Haris Alexiou.
She passed away peacefully in her sleep, leaving behind a remarkable body of work that continues to resonate with Greek audiences. Among her best-known songs is “Ah, Greece, I Love You,” memorably performed by Nikos Papazoglou.
