On Tuesday 31 March 2026, at 22:00 (Athens time), the program “Sound Portraits”, hosted by Stavroula Karali, sets sail into the seafaring world of Nikos Kavvadias, in a special tribute to the poet who transformed the language of sailors into poetry and song.
Words such as karanti, traverso, vatsimanis and pataratso come alive through lyrics and melodies, revealing a world both harsh and deeply human. A maritime world that Kavvadias captured through his journeys and life at sea.
These distant voyages are brought to life through performances by great artists such as Thanos Mikroutsikos, Vasilis Papakonstantinou, Mariza Koch, Dimitris Zervoudakis, among others who contributed to the enduring legacy of Kavvadias’ work.
