On Saturday 07 March 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00 (Athens time), on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Voice of Greece program “Our Town”, hosted by Themis Rodamitis, presents a tribute to Kallirroi Parren, a pioneering advocate for women’s emancipation and founder of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women.
Parren founded the first newspaper in Greece written and published by women and contributed to the establishment of charitable and educational institutions for women, dedicating her life to what we would today describe as the defense of human rights.
In the studio, the Secretary General of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women, journalist Katerina Daskalaki, will speak about the organization’s many significant initiatives and its rich cultural work across a wide range of fields, including music, dance, choirs, dance ensembles, and numerous educational programs. She will also refer to the organization’s important Museum of Greek Costume, which houses traditional garments, jewelry, and other historical objects, as well as to the activities and collaborations between the central administration, the 56 branches throughout Greece, and the 14 offices abroad.
She will also present the association’s recently created digital guide, which showcases the full range of its activities and serves as a valuable tool for communication with the Lyceum Club of Greek Women.
A special broadcast dedicated to an organization with 115 years of history, honoring women through numerous initiatives, information, and educational programs. Tune in!
