Today, here at GME, we are mourning the loss of a fantastic singer who sadly passed away yesterday at the age of just 65. Manolis Lidakis was born in beautiful Crete, the birthplace of endless music artists. His connection with music started at the age of 12, when he became a member of the Philarmonic Orchestra of the City of Herakleion, playing the trumpet. In 1982, he moves to Athens and his participation at the talent show “Here is your chance” lands him a contract for his first personal album with composer Giorgos Katsaros. But the real explosion of his popularity comes with the album “I didn’t even bother to ask”, probably the most sophisticated work performed by Lidakis. A massive career with numerous studio and live recordings was soon to follow.
