In the 1980s, light folk singers relied mostly on singing easy, digestible songs with slogans. In Katerina Stanisi’s records, such songs were absent. “I didn’t want songs that were easy to digest, I wanted to build a repertoire. As for Mary Maranti’s career peak, this is probably her majestic performance in a song heard in Pantelis Voulgaris’ film “It’s a Long Road” (Ola einai dromos). The scene where Giorgos Armenis is dancing outside the Vietnam night club is one of the greatest in Greek cinema, with the actor dancing zeibekiko, setting his clothes on fire, and asking the driver of the digging machine to demolish the entire club: “Ilia Richto!” (Elias, demolish it!).
