53 years after his death (on September 20, 1971), Seferis’ footprint on Greek music remains significant, as GME has tried to show throughout this week. Tonight, it is time to unveil the connection between Seferis and two colossal figures of Greek music, Giannis Markopoulos and Dimos Moutsis. The former utilises Seferis’ poetry in his “Stratis Thalassinos” album in order to establish his “Return to the roots” style – a kind of early Greek ethnic music. The latter turns to the poet in order to deliver “Tetralogy”, one of the most unconventional albums of Greek music, replete with strings and electronic sounds. The coexistence of the two in tonight’s GME symbolises, in a way, the coexistence of tradition and innovation in Seferis himself.
