We, here at GME, love trains. They are by far our favourite means of transportation, having offered us countless moments of departing, arriving, contemplating and a real sense of travel, especially in Northern Europe, in Belgium, Sweden, Wales and elsewhere. It is no coincidence that the name of our radio broadcast, Greek Music Express, is essentially a reference to a train. Whenever we think of a symbol of exploration, the railway is the first thing that comes to our mind. So, this week’s tribute to songs about trains was something that we wanted to broadcast for a long time. The occasion is not a happy one – the second anniversary of the Tempi railway disaster, but the truth is that for the last two years trains have been inherently associated with this tragedy. So, all of this week’s songs and broadcasts here at GME are dedicated to the 57 people lost in an accident that has become a stain in our souls and our consciousness.
