Infinitely Curious : The art of LARP (Live Action Role Playing) 04 Feb. 2024

What is that that makes our imagination go wild? Why are we so attracted to fairytales, superheroes and powers of the unknown? Why are we so drawn to characters derived from history with a fantasy twist?

Live Action Role Players or LARP players are some of those people who love to escape reality and create their own world whether it is Lord of the Rings or Dungeon and Dragons. Fantasy players love to go round dressed up in costumes and armor. Some like to spend a whole night around a table building characters, solving riddles and rewriting history what is also known as RPG.

Listen to ”Infinitely Curious” episode with Katerina Batzaki and travel with author of fantasy books Fotis Sagonas back in the time of Lord Byron, the Greek and American Revolution and learn how his latest book The Beginning helps RPG players relive in three different space-time periods of revolutions in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Learn how Fotis introduces a narrative architecture containing supernatural and quantum elements, where space and time are relative, with the Heroes taking on crucial roles in historical developments.

Listen to Giota Androutsopoulou, play tester of Mythic Revolutions and co-creator of Cerebral Productions, a production company of roleplaying games (tabletop and live action) and immersive experiences, based in Athens, how she applies role-playing games in education and youth empowerment and how her experience showed her how history and fantasy marry in a joyful and timeless LARP relationship, why is it so important to flip our reality over on a regular basis and continue to play no matter how old we are.
