Maritime stories by the seafarers of Andros on ”Saturday Shift”

Author Ioulia Zannaki-Lialiou, from the village of Vourkoti, Andros, joined Antonis Karagiannakis on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 8:00 Greek time, on Saturday’s special edition of the show Fair Winds and Following Seas.

She talks about her beloved Andros, her unforgettable childhood years on the island, about the sea, and seafaring (as she was born into a seafaring family). She has paid attention to and had had firsthand experience of the “laws” governing small island seafaring communities, and tells us all about her experiences. She also talks about her new book entitled “Seamen” – LOST AT SEA – IGNORED ON LAND by Gutenberg Publications.

All the seafaring recollections of her father, her mother – a seafarer’s wife, her brothers and cousins and all the other people she knew who worked at sea and brought with them many stories, experiences, feelings, adventures, and memories that are recorded in this gem of a book.
