Captain Nikolas Gerakaris from Andros is our guest on “FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS”for the 2nd consecutive time on VOICE OF GREECE. He tells us about the importance of the sailor’s wife, “for without her nothing would be done. We thank her,” says Captain Nikola.
He tells us stories from his long journey on the ships, such as when in Osaka, Japan, he first saw his 11-month-old son, because he had left shortly before his wife gave birth.
Also another story that tells us is when in Suez he stayed alone on the tanker on which he was the captain until a fire was extinguished, putting his wife and his children and all the crew on a helicopter to save them. Some of them went to the ship after the fire was extinguished.
