Olga Stavropoulou, General Director of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association – HELMEPA, was a guest on this episode of “Saturday Shift”, the special weekend edition of the radio show “Fair Winds and Following Seas” with Antonis Karagiannakis.
Ms. Stavropoulou talked about HELMEPA’s mission to ensure healthy and clean seas and will trace the organization’s history, which was founded in 1982 by George Livanos.
She also refered to the hundreds of volunteers who have embraced the organization, and to the 316 clean-up actions carried out across the country in 2024. In addition, she highlighted the achievements of the “Children’s HELMEPA,” which reached over 25,000 children – the so-called “glaropoula” – who, together with volunteer educators, carried out more than 8,000 environmental activities.
