On Sunday, December 1, 2024, “Our Town” featured Thanasis Gaifyllias.
The unique and charismatic singer-songwriter shared stories about his early years in Greek music, his love for great poets (Katsaros, Elytis, Ritsos, Hikmet, Varnalis, Karyotakis, Souris, among others), and his journey of setting their works to music. He recounted his first performances at the historic bouat (music clubs) in Plaka and his fascinating encounter with Manos Eleftheriou.
Thanasis Gaifyllias also discussed his many cultural activities in Komotini, the city where he resides, where he remains deeply engaged with music and cultural production.
The show highlighted his renowned record-and-book store, “To Kyttaro” (The Cell), which also served as his personal label for many years.
