Captain Christos Psorras, a crew manager at a shipping company in Piraeus, takes the helm of “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.
He speaks about his love of the sea and his career aboard ships and in the wider shipping industry.
“The sea is everything to me. I grew up with it, and it has been part of my entire life, both aboard ships and in the various roles I have held to this day. I grew up in Kardamyla, Chios, in a seafaring family, and graduated from the Livaneio Maritime High School of Kardamyla before beginning my career at sea.
“I followed the seafaring profession because of my family background, but also because of the stories told by older seafarers, who passed on their love of travel, shipping, and seamanship.
“My first voyage was aboard the M/V MARIA, a 40,000-ton cargo ship carrying timber, where I spent nine months,” Captain Christos recalls.
