Captain Dimitris Tsiropinas, from Chios, an island with a proud seafaring tradition, takes the helm of “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.
Speaking from his orchard during a break, he reflects on his love for his island and everything he missed while sailing the seas and calling at ports around the world.
He also recalls the days when crews were entirely Greek, the friendships he formed, and how much he enjoyed listening to stories from the older seafarers.
Captain Dimitris closes with these words: “Do what makes your soul happy. Look deep within yourself, and find a way to make life at sea fit your own wishes.”
