Captain Kostas Geomelos, Navigation Manager at CHANDRIS HELLAS, from the seafaring island of Chios, is at the helm of the program “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.
Captain Kostas does not forget the contribution of Voice of Greece to Greek seafarers, who tuned in by every possible means, wherever in the world they happened to be.
As for the sea—and his decision to go to sea—Captain Kostas Geomelos tells us: “The sea is, for me, an extension of life and everyday existence. It is my life. I was born into the sea and I live with it. I come from a maritime family, and without even realizing it, I was shaped—imbued—by countless stories, experiences, images, and emotions. I graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy of Chios (Deck Officers), and in 1991 I embarked for the first time in Singapore aboard the M/V Marijeannie. A bulk carrier loaded with wheat from the United States, bound for Sri Lanka.”
