Captain Meletis Kynigos from Piraeus speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas”.
“I graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy of Kymi and embarked on my first voyage in 1969—27 consecutive months aboard the M/V FANTOM of the distinguished Lemos shipping company. I fell in love with the sea and with the seafaring profession, and I have never regretted this choice,” recalls the veteran captain.
He goes on to explain how he decided to pursue a captain’s career, emphasizing that “the sea is life. Thanks to it, I came to know the whole world. I literally sailed around the globe. I am happy and fortunate for this, but there is no country in the world like Greece.”
