“The sea may be beautiful,” he says, “but we must always anticipate it and be prepared for the dangers that may arise, whether from the weather or from the ship itself. Once, in the Bay of Biscay, we encountered extremely severe weather. In my 30 years of service at sea, there was one time when we caught fire in Algiers after being struck by lightning. But, thank God, with calmness and proper handling, everything turned out well,” Captain Nikolas told us.
