Captain Stergios Kyriakidis from Halkidiki is the guest on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.
“From the age of 10 I had already decided that I wanted to become a sailor and a captain. At 17, during the exams, I handed in blank papers so I could leave school and go to sea. Of course, later I finished school and entered the Merchant Marine Academy of Syros. My very first voyage was in 1969 on the M/V Mycenae 2 of the Eugenides company, from Piraeus to Venice and then on to Latin America,” Captain Stergios tells us, and continues:
“The sea cannot be described in two or three words. I cannot put it into words – but I can certainly say I have never regretted following it and working with it for so many years.”
