In his opening remarks at the Eugenides Foundation, during a special event organized by the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association (EENMA), Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Stefanos Gkikas focused on the pressing challenges facing Greece’s shortsea shipping sector: the shrinking and aging fleet, the new environmental requirements of the European Union, and the decline of the national transport fleet—both in number and in capacity.
At the event, the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE) presented its study “Shortsea Shipping: Trends, Challenges, and Impact on the Greek Economy.”
