Deputy Minister of the Interior Vasilis Spanakis speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece about the event “Piraeus Schools Sail the Seas of the World by Adopting a Ship,” held at the Ionideios School, the “Adopt a Ship” program, and Posidonia 2026.
Among other things, Mr. Spanakis emphasized that:
“The New Democracy government has reduced unemployment to a single-digit rate. Programs such as this one make a significant contribution to the national effort to create more jobs, including in the shipping sector, which in practice strengthens the country’s GDP and supports the Greek economy.”
Referring to the Adopt a Ship program, Mr. Spanakis noted:
“The future of our maritime industry also depends on the education of young people. This program shows us the way forward for shipping, and we all have a responsibility to strongly support initiatives of this kind.”
