Veteran seafarer and electrician Dinos Kostaras speaks on the program “Fair Winds and Following Seas” and Voice of Greece.
“I was born in Port Said, Egypt, and at the age of 14 I came to Greece with my family,” Dinos tells us, and continues: “After Egypt, my father worked as a boatswain. I always loved ships and the sea, and from a young age I wanted to travel the world and discover it. So, in 1972, at the age of 20, I embarked on my first voyage aboard the oil tanker M/V AMALTHEIA of the Kouloukoundis company, and thus began my 25-year journey on ships and at sea — a sea you must respect and never fear.”
