Giannis Pappas, New Democracy MP for the Dodecanese and former Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, takes the helm of “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.
Following the 17th Panhellenic Conference of Small Islands, held on the Heroic Island of Kasos, we discussed the challenges and prospects facing Greece’s island communities.
“No two islands are the same. Each has its own issues and distinctive characteristics. The state must support their development and prosperity. We have a duty to stand alongside our islanders, working together in a coordinated effort for a better tomorrow. We must provide security, healthcare, education, and transport so that younger generations—and everyone who wishes to—can remain on their island.“
“We need people with passion and love for their island, who look to the future with positivity and optimism,” Pappas said.
