There is a strong connection between the rebetiko genre and the bouzouki. Thankfully, however, the sound of the bouzouki continued to be at the heart of Greek song in its post-rembetiko evolution, towards folk (laiko) and art-folk paths. Our week-long tribute that ends today highlighted the autonomy of the bouzouki sound as depicted in some of the greatest, most emotionally charged instrumentals.
