Today comes the second part of our tribute to music for theatre, here at GME. Eleni Karaindrou and Nikos Xydakis, Nikos Xydakis and Eleni Karaindrou, two prominent figures of Greek music who have stood out for their melodiousness and sophistication. Yes, it is true that theatre has not been at the center of the discography and career of either of them. Karaindrou is best known as a world-class composer of film music, especially for films by Teo Angelopoulos. And Xydakis has been primarily a composer of song cycles at the crossroads of art and folk song, having had an impact on both styles. And yet, their creations for the stage convey some of the magic of their art.
