Throughout the week that ends today, we explored the work of some very talented and perhaps less advertised singers-songwriters who recently released personal albums of theirs and who definitely deserve our attention. Born in the neighborhood of Kesariani in 1987, Vassilis Korakakis has collaborated with important artists, including his dad, renowned folk creator Vangelis Korakakis, and is also a member of the orchestra of vocalist George Dalaras. His personal discography includes two albums, “Apo michanis tragoudia” and “Alaniarika sfyrizo”. As for Giorgos Papantonis, his two personal albums – “Konter” and “Trohos” – reveal his deep appreciation of rebetiko song. Moreover, he places emphasis on producing a type of folk song that will be of relevance today while respecting the melodic manners and overall ethos of the past.
